Unknown Title, no date Ceramic 10 ½ x 9 x 6 ½ '' Todd Shanafelt is an artist and professor living and working from his home studio in Mankato, MN. He is currently a professor at MNSU and teaches ceramics and mixed media classes. Shanafelt earned his Master of Fine Arts from Kansas State University and has since received numerous honors and artist grants, and has exhibited his work internationally. Regarding his creative process, Shanafelt states, “Clay allows me to wander through ideas stemming from childhood memories of my master-mechanic father’s garage and other experiences I have had in our mass production, mass convenience, mass consumption society.” This work was chosen among many curious objects discovered while scavenging the ceramic studio in Nelson Hall. The work was created as a demonstration for a hand building course and has since found various homes throughout the ceramics’ studio at MNSU. Todd Shanafelt
